Saturday morning we headed off to the Piazza della Signoria, a large open area south of the Duomo, not far from the River Arno. It is a public gathering space with many statues. There is a loggia housing 11 statues, plus others out in the open. This is where Michelangelo's David was first installed; it is now in the Accademia museum and a copy is here in front of the Palazzo Vecchio. Down the arcade shown to the right is the Uffizi Gallery.

After leaving the Piazza, we walked down the street that divides the Uffizi to the Arno. We walked along the river for a bit, with a good view of the Ponte Vecchio.
This famous bridge is lined with jewelry shops. From here we headed back towards our apartment, passing through the street full of famous-name shops such as Ferragamo, Gucci, Burberry, etc. We happened on a church called Trinita, which again had wonderful art.
