Saturday afternoon I took a fairly short walk over to the Piazza della Repubblica. This city square was originally the Roman forum, then the Jewish ghetto. It was cleared out in the late 19th century when Florence was briefly the capital of Italy. The triumphal arch was called the "Arcone." It had statues of women on the top that were later removed.
One of the current attractions of the square is a carousel. There were a few children riding it on Saturday afternoon. When we walked through here on Sunday, there were mobs of people and quite a few riders.
We take our garbage out to a series of bins that stand at many points around the city. This view is a couple of blocks from our apartment. You can see the truck lifting the bin -- it appears quite small at street level, but there is a large container underneath. Some bins are marked for organic garbage, some for recycling, some for whatever else you have.
