This past Saturday was the Lunar New Year. On Friday evening I saw a number of fireworks displays from my rooftop swimming pool. Barbara had another idea for a day out, so on Saturday morning we headed out once my Grab (like Uber) ride got me to her place.
Our first stop was for brunch at The Village Green Cafe and Retreat east of Chiang Mai pretty far from everything. It turned out to be an amazing place. We were the only customers in the cafe, which had a wonderful menu. I had eggs over mixed vegetables and Barbara had a salad that was primarily avocado. Both delicious, but sorry, no pictures! While we were sitting with our drinks, the owner came and visited with us. He is Chinese, married to a Thai woman, with family ties to Peru. They met at a university in the US. When they were looking for a place to retire, they found this spot, which was just a patch of land. Now there are at least a half dozen buildings, a nice cafe, rooms to rent for the night or week, gardens and orchards. We had a good time chatting with him.

After we had eaten, he gave us a tour of the entire property. It would certainly be a serene place to spend a couple of days.
